MANAWATU CRICKET TEAM RETURNS
Hawke Cup Success i

PALMERSTON N-, January 25. The Mauawatu representative cricket team which trounced Nelson in a Hawke Cup elimination match returned to Palmerston North today. Murchison, who was in the South Island on business when the team departed for Nelson last week, did not accompany the players home, JJr. G. Love, the manager, said excellent weather had been experienced throughout except for one slight shower. W. Norris, the captain, said the wicket was hard and fast and at the end of the game it was still good for another 1046 runs, the number scored on it. On one occasion Pritchard when dismissing a batsman sent the bails flying for 47 yards. Pritchard was presented with the ball lyith which he did the hat-trick. Though the team travelled to Nelson from Wellington by air, it returned by the Nelson-Wellington boat.
