CANADA’S BIG WHEAT SURPLUS

Trade With Germany Urged

WINNIPEG, December 15.

A revival of trade with Germany was proposed at the international wheat conference meeting here today, as a means of aiding the disposal of Canada’s huge surplus of wheat. Mr. IL L. Griffin, statistician for the United Grain Growers’ Cojnpany, stated that no dislike of German political developments should blind Canada to the fact that her greatest opportunity of improving trade would be found in Germany.

Dr. F. H. Schreiber, a Winnipeg importer, urged that the wheat provinces should pledge themselves to buy German goods to the value of the wheat sold to Germany.

Mr. L. A. 'Wheeler, chief of the United States of America Agricultural Service, stated that if the present wheat acreage was maintained by the wheat-growing countries they must reconcile themselves to producing 250,000,000 bushels more each year than can be exported.
