BIG U.S. CREDITS FOR CHINA

25,000,000-Dollar Loan For Purchase Of Goods

The Reconstruction Finance Corporation has announced the authorization of 25,000,000-dollar credits by the Export and Import Bank for Chinese interests for the purchase of American agricultural and manufactured products. While it is insisted, that the goods are of a purely commercial nature, it is understood that they include motortrucks and petrol.

The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times” says that, "taken in conjunction with reports that Brittain is about to extend credits to China, it may mean that the two Powers are throwing some of their influence in the scales on behalf of the hard-pressed Chinese and against Japan, whose disregard of their rights in China and flouting of the open door policy, has resulted in a serious diplomatic impasse.” NEW JAPANESE PUSH EXPECTED Cutting Off Arms Supply (Received December 16, 11.30 p.m.) HONG KONG, December 16. The Chinese are reported to be destroying bridges on the border region between Kwangtung and Kwangsi provinces in anticipation of a new Japanese advance to Nanning, capital of Kwangsi, aimed at interrupting Die supply of arms to China through French Indo-China.

The first clash is expected at Fatshan, 10 miles south-west of Canton, where 3000 Japanese are concentrated.
