The severe strain imposed on tlie Automobile Association (Hawke's Bay) during th» flood period in April tested its etlieienev and capacity to the utmost, says the annual report of the association. While direct communication with Tnnpo was cut off for three weeks and with Wniron for six- weeks, the association’s patrols were kept constantly moving for practically 12 hours dnilv collecting information about the condition of roads and the progress of repair work. Many detour and caution signs were erected by natrols. Tlie office staff also bnd a very hectic time during the flood. The report nays tribute to the patrol officers, Mr. M. O. Loci.- (chief).
