Sheep Prices Maintained At Dannevirke Sale GOOD DEMAND FOR PIGS Dominion Special Service. DANNEVIRKE, October 18. Williams and Kettle offered at their usual stock sale at Norsewood yesterday a small yarding of sheep and a good yarding of cattle and pigs to a fair attendance of buyers. Sheep prices were well maintained, but prices for cattle were slightly lower than recent sales. There was again a good demand for weaner pigs. Quotations were Sheep: Medium wether hoggets, 15/’.) to IG/-; medium ewe hoggets, 22/4; good ewe hoggets, 30/-; fat and forward b.f. hoggets, 21/10: light fat ewes, 15/9. Cattle: Light fat Jersey cows, £3/17/to £4/9/-; springing Jersey cows and heifers, to £7: empty two-year heifers, £2/18/- to £3/2/G: yearling Jersey heifers. £2/7/G to £4/G/-: store cows, £l/15/- to £2; Jersey bulls, £3 to £B. Pigs: Medium weaners, I.G/6 to £1 : good weaners, £l/2/6 to £l/7/6. Masterton Cattle Fair Dominion Special Service MASTERTON, October 18. Exceptionally heavy were offered at the second Masterton cattle fair yesterday to a large attendance of buyers from Manawatu, Pahiatua and Wairarapa districts. Prices generally were easier, but vendors met the market. A pen of three-year and four-year forward conditioned bullocks offered by Dalgety and Company on account of Mr. E. C. White topped this firm’s entry at £lO 9/-. Prices were:— Store cattle: Three and four-year P.A. steers, £lO/9/-; three-year P.A. crows steers, £lO/2/-; three-year store conditioned P.A. steers, £9/5/-; three-year Hereford steers, £9/6/-; horned Hereford bullocks, £9/5/-; two-year Hereford steers, £8; two-year P.A. steers, £7/10/-; other medium P.A. steers, £6/15/- to £7; yearling P.A. steers. £5/8/-; other medium sorts, £4 to £4/12/6; small, £3 to £3/12/6; two-year P.A. heifers. £6 10/-; medium sorts from £5/5/- to £5 12/6; yearling P.A. heifers, £3 to £3
8/-; small, £2/7/6 to £2/14/-; empty station cows, £5; others in store condition, £4 to £4/12/6. 'l'he annual draft, of fat cows offered on account of Tikitapu Station, under keen competition made tip to £B/17/6. Wright. Stephenson and Company obtained £ll for a good pen of grown bullocks on behalf of Mr. K. Groves. Prices for male cattle were not up to the first Masterton fair, big cattle being down 10/a head; young steers showed a drop of £1 a head. Fat cattle were a shade easier. An entry of 930 head was offered by the Now Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Company. Good lines of quality two-year-old P.A. heifers were in keen demand, and prices consequently showed a rise. Realisations were

Waipukurau Cattle Fair Dominion Special Service. WAIPUKURAU, October 18.. Slow competition was evident at the weekly sale at Waipukurau to-day, when a cattle fair was held. The cause of this was due to the backward state of pastures interfering with fattening. The bulk of the entries were store conditioned
eattle of approximately 2700 head. The market was easier as compared with late rates. Some entries of good quality cattle were penned, including forward P.A. bullocks which made £lO/3/-, while three-year steers in similar order realised £9/8/-. An attractive line of forward empty well-bred three-year heifers brought £6 12/-. The highest figure realised in the fat stock section was £ll/19/- for a small P.A. steer, while three mediumframed P.A. bullocks sold at £ll/5/-. Two prime P.A. heifers brought £9/10/and 10 good medium-sized cows £B/5/-.
