Awatea On Passage To > Sydney By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, March 23. AVhen the Union Company’s transTasniau liner Awatea left Auckland for Sydney she carried a record number of passengers for the ship on tlie voyage out of port- A total of 498 travellers filled practically all the Awatea’s accommodation, the list being one of the heaviest ever to have embarked on any ship at Auckland.
On recent voyages the liner has frequently carried about 490 passengers from Auckland, her previous record of 496 being established recently.
