Surprises Provided At Lower Hutt Party

F'am and Eileen Johnston, “Kincora,” Western Hutt Koto, Lower Hutt, were hostesses at their . home on Saturday afternoon at a delightful party for a number of their small friends. They both wore dainty frocks of primrose and green, spotted muslin with tiny puff sleeves. Mrs. D. G. Johnston, their mother, wore marocain with a navy blue ground, patterned in white and red. The little folk spent a jolly time playing games on the wide lawn. The event of the afteruoon was a Punch and. Judy show under the supervision of Charley, the well-known Wellington clown. Afternoon tea was served from a long table in the side garden. The predominating colours were primrose and green, in harmony with the hostesses’ frocks, the floral decorations being bowls of roses of every shade from the lovely garden. There ivere gay bon-bous at each place, and the unique birthday cake, which beid pride of place at the end of the table, was a replica of a cottage with windows and doors complete, and gay creepers climbing up its walls of deep cream almond icing. The brown shingled root was of uonpariel chocolates. There were many delighted exclamations from the small guesis as the cake was cut by the hostesses. There were also fascinating little cakes in the shape of animals. Some o fthe parents of the children who were present entered into the fun of the afternoon with the children. The guests were June Eastwick and Jill Macrae, cousins of the hostesses; the Hon. Celia and the Hon. Isabel Alonckton, the Hon. Simon MoncktonArundel,' Rosemary Riddiford, Belinda Williams, Bece and Janet Young, Jane and Elizabeth Florence, Diana Pearce, Mary and Patience Maclean, Julie and Jan Hutchison, Colleen and Mary Pat Gamble, Pamela Hunt, June Grant, Blair Treadwell, Helen Crump, Sue Admore, Mary Wilde, Brenda and June Hickey, Louise Stuart, John and David Blakely, Gwendie Cook, Sally and Jane Marchbanks, Ann Hewson.
