SUCCESSFUL EFFORT
Taita Anglican Children’s Fancy Dress Party
The bazaar and children’s plain and fancy dress party, held at the Taita Hall 'on Saturday afternoon in aid of the Taita Anglican Church funds, was most successful both socially and financially. The hall was gay with multi-coloured streamers, and parishioners attended in large uumbers and bought generously of the goods on the well-stocked stalls. Mrs. H. E. K. Fry, wife of the vicar, welcomed those present, and complimented the children on their fancy costumes. Mrs. Fry expressed pleasure at the. attendance of members of other denominations. The gaily-decorated aud attractive stalls did excellent business. Mrs. Gordon L. G-ieson judged the fancy costumes and awarded the following prizes:—Mildred Claughton (sailor man), Waldo Chamberlain (dragon), little ones, Margaret Hamilton (fairy), lan McArthur (sailor), “Knitting’ (Margaret Page), and “Golliwog” (Alan Page) vyere also awarded prizes. The Stallholders were: —Cake stall, Mesdames Wright aud Maycroft; fancy stall, Mesdames Warder, Cording, and Burborough; produce stall, Mesdames Tustin, August, and Miss Eileen August; ice cream and sweets, Mrs. Pudney; darts, Len Burborough and Ted Fuge; “Aunt Sally,” Douglas Maycroft aud George Hooper; afternoon tea, Mesdames Balls, Gorrie, Fuge, McArthur, and Rothnic. The committee which was largely responsible for the success of the afternoon comprised Mesdames Buck, D. Balls, Tustin, McArthur, F. Gorrie, Maycroft, G. August, E. Fuge, Wright, and Miss Eileen August.
