SUCCESSFUL COLLEGE SOCCER ELEVEN

The first eleven of the Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College has had a successful senson at Association football, winning the Heseltine Cup for the Hutt Valley League championship, the Telford Cup knock-out competition. The team has won all of its matches except one. which it drew. The second eleven playing in the same grade as the first eleven did better than in any previous year. It finished fifth in the championship, and reached the semifinal of the Telfo’rd Cup, in which it drew with Aloera and in the replay lost narrowly. In its last championship match the second eleven also drew with Moera, which team finished second iu the championship. Three boys, Johnson, Dunean and Baylis, were chosen for the secondary schools junior representatives, and played in the North Island tournament. Four were selected to represent the Hutt A-alley League. The first ten boys to finish in the annual senior cross-country run were : Dunean. McKenzie, AVebley, Round, Rentoul, Carter, Mcßae, Stunell, Hall, and Hoddinott. In the junior event the first ten to finish were: L. Price, Barker, M. Smith. Higgins, Binns, Roy, Baylis, Belsham, Forsyth, ami Seymour.

Personals. Mrs. AVelton-Hogg, Lower Hutt, left yesterday for Palmerston North. Later in the week she will go on to AA anganui, where she will be the guest of Mrs. Hatrick. Miss Agatha Bunny. Lower Hutt, will leave for AA'anganui on Sunday, and will be the guest of Mrs. Ilatrick. She and Mrs AVelton-Hogg intend going on to Napier for tlie Napier and Tasman Cup golf tournaments.

Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Gibbons, “Ransrinho,” Lower Hutt, are touring in the North.

Residential Nursery. The monthly meeting of the Lower Hutt branch of the'Residential N" rR,,I T was held at the home of Mrs. Walter Nash. Opportunity was taken to welcome Mrs. Nash back from abroad. Mrs. Charlcsworth presided and there was a good attendance of members. It was decided to hold a “bring-and-buy in aid or the nursery funds at the home of Mrs. B S. Knox. Totara Crescent, on October 7.' This will be the final effort ot the year.
