GAS LIGHTING
Petone and Hutt Board Meeting .
At the monthly meeting of the Fetone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board, held last night at Petone, the manager, Mr. D. Macpherson, reported, that during August 11,012,000 cubic, feet of gaij were manufactured, an increase ot 639,000 cubic feet over August, 1936, but a decrease of 294,000 cubic feet on July, 1937. The average make was 15,538 cubic feet a ton. Coal in stock on September 1 totalled 731 tons. During August SSS 9 gallons of tar were sold, and 77,481 gallons were in stock on September 1. The secretary, Mr. O. Silbery, reported the sale during August of 17 new cookers ; eight replaced cookers; four copi pers: two water-heaters; two fires and 23 new services. ' It was agreed to make a display at the Hutt A'alley Exhibition Society’s exhibition at Lower Hutt in November, provided the officers of the board are satisfied the exhibition is reasonably supported. The space suggested to be taken is ISO square feet. Presentation to Mr. E. T. E. Hogg. To show its appreciation of the services of Mr. K. T. E. Hogg, as a board member, he was presented with a pair ol silver entree dishes and a rose bowl. Mr. Hogg is shortly to be married. The presentation was made by the chairman, Air AV. G. Lodder, who paid a tribute to the work Mr. Hogg had done during the years of his membership. Regret was expressed that he was leaving Petone. Mr. Hogg will reside in Lower Hutt.
