Francis—Vernon
The wedding of Isohel Veronica, eldest daughter of Mrs. D. Martin and the late Mr. J. A. Vernon, Wanganui, to Reginald Vivian, younger son of Captain W. Francis and Mrs. Francis, Mount Eden. Auckland, was solemnised in the Church of Christ, Wanganui, I recently. Archdeacon ’J. R. Young olliciated and Mr. Wentworth Slater was at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. A. T. Vernon, wore a frock of parchment, lace over taffeta, with pleating forming a V from the hemline to the waist in the centre front, and the fullness falling to form a train at the back. She wore a parchment lace pleated coatee caught I with a cluster of violets at the waistline, and a mauve picture hat. Her sheaf bouquet was of violets, gladioli and stocks in tonings of mauve. Miss Stella Vernon, sister of the bride, attended her, wearing a redingote gown of floral ripple ninon over pink taffeta. The neckline was trimmed across the front with small pink rosebuds, and the roll collar tapered off to the waist where it was finished by tiny pink buttons. The skirt was full from the hips to form a slight train. She wore a pale pink picture hat and carried an armsheaf of carnations, gladioli, tiger lilies and african daisies in shades of pink. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Trevor Guntrip, "Wellington, as best man, and Messrs. Howard Smith and Les Oineen, also of Wellington, were the ushers. A. reception was held at the Victoria Hall, where the guests were received by Mrs. Martin, mother of the bride, who wore a black frock with braided sleeves and bodice finished with a white collar and blousette. Her black peach-bloom velour cone-crowned hat was trimmed with an ivory and black feather. A white fox fur was also worn, and her bouquet was of kenya red berries and african daisies. Mrs. Francis, mother of the bridegroom. was in a dove-grey georgette ensemble with a matching fur felt hat. She carried a bouquet of african daisies, tiger lilies, stocks and carnations in pink shades. When Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Francis left for the north the bride wore an ensemble of brown silk eyeletted taffeta, with a parchment lace vestee clipped at the waist by a gilded buckle and a brown Jack tar straw hat with an eye veil. After washing your chamois gloves, rinse them in water in which orangepeel has been boiled. This will always keep them a good colour. i
