District Meetings The following are reports of meetings of AVomen’s Institutes in various districts :— Utiku. The third annual meeting of th 6 Utiku Women's Institute was held recently. The report and balance-sheet were comprehensively surveyed and adopted. Mrs. R. Dellon was re-elected president. Trophies won during the year were presented by Mrs. Pairniau as follows:- —Points | prizes: Seniors, Airs. P. O. Praguell 1, ' Mrs. R. J. Gibbs 2, Airs. E. C. Gibbs 3; juniors, Aliss AV. Dellow 1, Miss Dulcie Gibbs 2, Miss Gladys Gibbs 3; premier bloom competition, Mrs. R. Ross; Alarch | competition : Seniors, Mrs. Prime 1, Mrs. McDowall 2, Aliss G. Gibbs 3; juniors, Miss Dulcie Gibbs 1, Aliss AV. Dellow 2, Aliss Doris Gibbs 3. Mrs. F. Jackson, who is leaving, was presented with a shoulder spray. A demonstration was conducted by Alesdames Millar and Marsh. Taita. Mrs. Foster presided over a large attendance at the meeting of the Taita AVomen’s Institute. The conveners of the drama and madrigal circles made an appeal for new members. Airs. Hardy gave an interesting and amusing talk on life in Raratonga, and the madrigal circle entertained with “Life’s Old Sweet Song” and Alendelssohn's “Greeting.” Afternoon tea brought a pleasant afternoon to a close. The annual picnic was held at the “Brown Owl,” where a pleasant day was spent. A competition, “flowers,’’ was, won by Airs. Arnold. j Silverstream. The April meeting of the Silverstream institute was very well attended, and conveners for the circles reported keen enthusiasm. The competition for the afternoon, the best worked tea-towel, brought 11 entries, and was won by Airs. Chapman-Taylor, with Airs. Linford second. The making of seagrass stools was demonstrated by Mrs. Kilson, who had 17 pupils. Afternoon ' tea served by the hostesses completed an enjoyable afternoon. Parewanui. The monthly meeting of the Parewanui AVomen’s Institute was held al “Apa House,” the president, Airs. H. F. Russell, presiding. One new member and several visitors were welcomed. A tapestry demonstration was given by Mrs. M. Anderson. Alesdames H. F. Russell and A. Tattle entertained with an amusing sketch, “In a Doctor’s Waiting-room.” An amusement competition was won by Airs. M. Anderson, and the wheatmeal scone competition resulted as follows: Airs. Sanson 1, Mrs. McConachy 2, Mrs. Tattle 3. Airs. Duncan was the judge. In the potato competition the prize was won by Aliss Hazel Russell. A bring-and-buy was also held. Alangatera. The montlily meeting of the Alangatera Women’s Institute was hold at the Forester's Hall recently. Airs. Bragging presided, and gave an interesting report of the annual meeting of the Southern Hawke’s Bay federation, held at Waipukurau. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Alesdames Avison and Bragging, jum, and Miss Copp. A competition, wood-fibre flowers, was held for the points prize, Alesdames AlcGrath and Devlin being the winners. The roll-call, “A written suggestion for improving the institute,” brought some good suggestions. Miss J. Thompson gave a demonstration of papier macho work. The president. welcomed a new member and a visitor. The roll-call for the May meeting will be, “A suggestion for a roll-call and a competition," from which a programme will be made up. The competition will be papier macho work, and the hostesses will be Alesdames Davy, Fahey and Freeman. Bulls. The new president, Airs. Huddleston, presided over a committee meeting of the Bulls: AVomen’s Institute recently, when the following officers were elected: A’ice-presidents, Mrs. Hendry, Aliss liroughton, Airs. Eseott; secretary, Mrs. Smart; treasurer, Airs. O. Button; Press correspondent. Miss P. AA’icks; charge of hostesses, Airs. Rich; competition stewards, Airs. C. A r . Green, Airs. Du Fresne; pianist, Airs. D. Ross. The monthly meeting of the institute was held at a later date. Mrs. Huddleston presided over a large attendance. A feature of the meeting was a flower show. Visitors were welcomed, and Airs. Eyles, Airs. L. Aleads aud Aliss AVillicombe vyere enrolled as new members.

Airs. H. Ellery donated trophies for the best bloom in the garden for the next three mon tbs. A competition was won by Aliss Richa.rds and Airs. Blanch-
