ANNUAL MEETING
Queen Margaret College Parents’ Association
The eleventh annual meeting of Queen Margaret College Parents’ Association was held this week in the college hall, Mr. O. C. Mazengarb presiding over an attendance of more than 150 parents and friends. The college principal, Miss Wilson, and the staff, were also present. . The president reviewed the activities of the association during the year, referring especially to the garden fete in aid of the furnishings for _ the new dormitory wing, in the organisation of which the association had taken a prominent part. He congratulated the board of governors on their enterprise in the building of the new dormitory wing. Reference was made to the retirement of Mr. W. M. Page as a representative of the association on the board of governors, and tributes were paid to the work done by him for the school. In conclusion, the president expressed the thanks of the parents to the principal, Miss Wilson, and her staff for their work in the cajje of their daughters, and presented her with a bouquet. Miss Wilson, in the course of a short talk, thanked the president and the parents’ association for the support and assistance given her during the year. She welcomed parents of new pupils and asked for their co-opera-tion, especially urging that parents help their children by endeavouring to develop a spirit of self-reliance, and the habit of using their own judgment. The following officers were elected :— President, Mr. O. C. Mazengarb; vicepresident, Mrs. J. S. Martin; secretary, Mr. G. M. Pottinger; representative on board of governors, Messrs. K. E. Luke and F. Jakobson; committee, Mesdames Appleton, Armour, Carson, Cooke, Cornish, Dallard, Duncan, Eichelbaum, Green, Luke, Mantell-Hardiiig, Monro, Madden, Marchbanks, Mazengarb, Radford, Russell, Spratt, and Wall; Messrs. Ffitch, F. J. Jones, Lieder, Lambert, Mackersey. It was unanimously agreed that the school should take advantage of the Government milk scheme.
A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. G. R. McKellar, the retiring secretary.
An enjoyable musical programme, arranged by Miss Hirst, who was presented with a spray of flowers, followed the meeting. Songs were sung by Miss Hirst and piano solos played by Miss Holmes, Miss Horner and Miss Hirst. Part songs were given by the boarders. The serving of coffee and sandwiches concluded a very pleasant evening.
