Sir John Lamb, K.C.8., LL.D., Scotland, arrived at Wellington in the Awatea from Sydney yesterday, on a holiday tour of the Dominion. He intends to stay five weeks, and will visit both islands, later completing a tour of the world.

Sir Joseph and Lady Smith. Auckland, recently came to Wellington and will shortly leave New Zealand on a visit to England. Sir Robert Clark-Hall, who has been attending the Rover Moot at Masterton, passed through Wellington yesterday on bis return to Christchurch. Mr. C. 11. Weston, K.C., Wellington, left for the south last night. Mr. W. Hustler Smith, Wellington, was a passenger for Auckland by last night's Limited express. Mr. Sydney Francis Hoben will be a passenger to Christchurch by the Rangatira to-night. Mr. T. C. Ross, Wellington, was among the passengers in last night’s steamer ex-press for Lyttelton. Professor F. P. Worley and Mr. R. P. Worley, Auckland, arrived in Wellington on Monday. Hon. M. Connelly, M.L.C., returned to Wellington by the Awatea yesterday from a holiday visit to Australia. Mr. F. H. Waters, Commissioner of Crown Lands for Taranaki, has beeu appointed Commissioner of Crown Lands at Dunedin.

Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, Mayor of Wellington, who is spending the Easter holidays at Tokaanti, will return to Wellington ou Saturday. Mr. B. King, chief draftsman in the Lands Office at New Plymouth, has been promoted to the position of Commissioner of Crown Lands for Westland.

Mr. A. D. Park, chairman of directors of the State Advances Corporation, left Wellington for Christchurch last night. He will visit branch offices at Christchurch and Dunedin. Mr. E. F. Hollands, engineer and general manager for the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board, returned to Wellington by the Awatea yesterday from a visit to England. The Hon. E. L. Kiernan and Mrs. Kiernan, Melbourne, arrived at Wellington by the Awn tea yesterday. They are to make a holiday tour of both islands and will leave again for Sydney by the Awatea on April 13. Mr. 11. P. Christmas, general manager of Woolworths Ltd. iu Australia and New Zealand, arrived at Wellington by the Awatea from Sydney yesterday. He intends to spend a week in New Zealand. Mr. W. M. C. Denham. M.P. (Government. Invercargill), left Wellington by the Awatea last evening for Sydney. He is making a private visit to Victoria and Queensland and expects to be iu Australia for about a month.

Squadron Leader G. 1,. Stedman, formerly chief instructor to the Wellington Aero Club, left last night for Christchurch. He is to take up tlie position of chief instructor to the Canterbury Aero Club. Mr. G. 15. Smith, general manager for Australia ami New Zealand of the Australian Provincial Assurance Association Ltd., arrived at Wellington by the Awatea from Sydney yesterday. Mr. Smith is on a business visit to the Dominion.

Wing Commander T. M. Wilkes, Director of Air Services, left Wellington last night for Auckland. He is visiting Auckland in connection with the visit of the Pan-American Airways flying boat to New Zealand and expects to return to Wellington on Friday.

Mr. W. L. Dunn, secretary of tlie Hawke’s Bay Education Board, has been granted two months’ leave of absence by the board to take up special work with the Education Department in Wellington.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. !■'. Donnelly, Wellington, left for Sydney by the Awatea yesterday, to connect witli tlie liner Nestor for London, via South Africa. They tire accompanied by Mrs. J. L. Ledger and Miss E. G. Ledger, also of Wellington.

Dr. A. b. Day, of the Carnegie Institute, Washington, who since the Australasian Science Congress held in January in Auckland, has been making a study of the thermal region of New Zealand, in co-operation with the Departments of Public Works and Scientific Industrial Research. returned to Auckland during ike weekend with Mrs. Day. Dr. Day has presented a report of his investigations to the departments concerned.
