Parliament House, on Friday morning. The conference, which is the result of effort on the part of the Minister’of Internal Affairs. Hon. W. E. Parry, to have plans laid for keeping intact, for the people New Zealand's native trees and ferns, will be presided over by his Excellency tlie Gover-nor-General, Lord Galway, who, with her Excellency, has shown keen interest in the country’s flora and fauna. Mr. Parry told “The Dominion” yesterday that it was likely the conference would be representative of all the principal parts of New Zealand. In addition to the Governor-General as ehairman, the Hon. F. Langstone, Minister of Lands. Commissioner of State Forests, and Minister in charge of the Scenery Preservation Department, and himself as Minister of Internal Affairs would address the conference.

“From the dispatches before me from interested bodies and the matters to be discussed I feel that the effort by all concerned toward the saving of New Zealand's bush is not only one of the largest yet made but is one which seems certain of success.” remarked the Minister. "The response to the call for assistance from the horticultural and beautifying societies —indeed, from members of the public who love their country’s bush and all the splendour it carries—lias been heartening in its encouragement and enthusiasm. The plans to be placed before the conference will embrace a wide field and the representatives attending should find in them some way in which all will be able to help their country today and in the future.”
