Mr. C. E. Bennett’s Association With Public Works To mark his retirement .after 40 years’ service, Mr. Charles E. Bennett, assistant under-secretary to the Public Works Department, received a presentation at a gathering held in the head office of the department yesterday afternoon. Mr. J. Wood, engineer-in-chief and under-secretary, spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr. Bennett’s service to the department and to the State during his official career, and on behalf of the head office staff presented him with a set of bowls, a china cabinet, and crystal ware. References to Mr. Bennett’s long and valuable service were also made by Mr. A. J. Baker, assistant en-gineer-in-chief, Mr. F. T. N. Kissel, chief electrical engineer, Mr. J. T. Mair, Government architect, and Mr. H. Arthur, chief clerk. Replying, Mr. Bennett expressed regret at severing his connection with the department and its officers, with whom his associations had been so happy.
