OTAKI HEALTH CAMP
Reopening Decided Upon Before. Christmas, 34 children from the Wellington Salvation Army Home were admitted to the Otaki Children’s Health Camp, of whom 25 were girls between 5 and 15 years of age and the remainder infants. The average age of the 25 girls was 10 years seven months, and during their stay in camp extending over a short period of three weeks the average increase in weight was 4.11 b. a child. The average age of the nine infants was two years nine months, and the average accretion in weight was 2.131 b. a child. These children were not sent to the camp for treatment, but as a holiday, the camp having been closed to children drawn from the usual channels as a precautionary measure against the spread of infantile paralysis. It was decided at a meeting of the health camp executive this week to reopen the camp on Monday, February 15. The following arrangements for admission have been notified:—February 14, Dannevirke children to be admitted; February 15, Wellington children; February 16, Taranaki, children; February 17, East Coast and Hawke’s Bay; February 18, Wairarapa anti Palmerston North.
