SOCIAL EVENING

Hataitai Plunket Society

A very pleasant time "as spent recently in the Methodist schoolroom, Hataitai, the occasion being the second of a series of social evenings organised by the Hataitai Plunket committee for the Plunket mothers of the district. Mrs. Tythe-Brown, vice-president, acted as hostess in the absence of the president, Mrs. A. Tennent. Competitions were won by Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Notley, and some musical and vocal items and recitations were much appreciated, these being given by Miss Ngalre Hiatt (piano solo), Mrs. Clarke (song), accompanied by Mrs. McCracken; Mrs. E. J. Marshall (song), accompanied by Mrs. K. H. Boys; and Messrs. <l. Lloyd and C. S. Marshall (humorotis recitations). A delightful travel talk— “Meandering in Holland, Edinburgh and Panama”-— was given by Miss Maddever. Mrs. Tythe-Brown warmly thanked those who had contributed to the programme. A home-made supper was provided by the committee, Mesdames TytheBrown, E. C. Heald, H. R. Biss, R. •H. Boys, H. R. Baigent, H. Blakeley, Furgess, Preston, Middlemas, E, .1. Marshall, R. Williamson and Edmonds. Those present included Mesdames F. E. Luke. Cross, E. Jones, Newton, Wallace, Mcllraith, Living, Watt, Nelson, Alston, McDonald. Souness, Williamson, Mitchell, Thomas. Francis, F. 0. Roberts, W. N. McMillan, F. O. Hart, G. R. Wilson, Keane, Youlman, O’Meara, McAllum, L. Johnson. R. Smuts-Kennedy, F. A. Smuts-Kennedy, and Misses Marshall, Murdoch and L. Wingate.
