Armistice Day Silence

Sir, —Your correspondent “1914-18” appears to have exaggerated the fact regarding one of the city council workmen creating a disturbance during the two minutes’ silence on Armistice Day. Should he have done such a deed as to have shouted jeering remarks to those who were duly paying homage, I daresay the workman wouldn't have sat driving his cart for long. As a matter of fact, I was at the corner of Harris Street and Jervois Quay as the silence commenced, and during the whole period I scarcely heard a discordant note. —I am, etc., SILENCE. Wellington, November 17.
