WEDDING

Butterfield —Clout Blue and pink were the colours chosen for the wedding which took place recently at St. James’s Church, Lower Hutt, when Florence, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Clout, lower Hutt, was married to Albert George, only son of Mr. and'Mrs. H. Butterfield. Bluff. The bride was escorted by her brother, Mr. C. Clout, and attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Joy Butterfield, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Beverly Mailman. The best man was Mr. Ray Mailman, and Mr. Eric Foster was usher. The ceremony wa§ performed by the Rev. H. E. K. Fry, and Miss Harte presided at the organ. Blue lace over satin formed the bridal gown, which was made with a shaped panel flaring from the knees and forming a long three-cornered train. The softiy folded neckline was caught at each side with a diamante clasp, and the sleeves were tight fitting at the wrist, with folds above the elbow. The billowy blue tulle veil, which was edged with pleating, was caught with a halo of blue orange blossom and pleated tulle. A sheath of pink hyacinths, cyclamen and maidenhair fern was carried. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a pink and blue horseshoe by ber cousin, Georgie Mclntosh. Misg Butterfield wore a pink taffeta frock cut on slim-fitting lines with a shirred neckline and full puff sleeves slashed to the elbow. A double row of tiny loops and buttons finished the back. Miss Mailman was In a frock of pink taffeta, the skirt having flared frills and a wide sash and bow at the waistline. Both bridesmaids wore shirred caps and muffs trimmed with small blue flowers.

The reception was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, the tables being decorated with pink Iceland poppies. The bride’s mother received the guests wearing a frock of black frosted crepe and lace, with hat to match. Her shoulder spray was of deep p’nk cyclamen and maidenhair fern. Mr, and Mrs. A. G. Butterfield later left for the south, the bride travelling in a two-tone green costume and hat, with deep cream accessories.
