BROPHY INQUIRY
Acting-Commissioner’s Recommendation Melbourne, July 23. A recommendation that no further action be taken against Superintendent Brophy or other police’ officers concerned in the recent inquiry by his Honour Mr. Justice Maclndoe has been made to the Chief Secretary by ActingPolice Commissioner Mooney.
POLICE REORGANISATION
Former Scotland Yard Officer Sails For Australia London, July 22. Chief-Inspector Gough, late of Scotland Yard, is to sail for Australia by the Rangitane on July 23, via New Zealand. He visited the Agency-General in connection with the Victorian police reorganisation.
The Victorian Cabinet decided recently to invite a Scotland. Yard officer of high rank and qualifications to make a survey of the Victorian police force and recommend such changes as are necessary to modernise the force.
