DANZIG SITUATION

Close Watch by Britain (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, July 21. Newspapers are unfavourably impressed by the nature of the so-called “security measures” adopted by the Danzig Government, and are closely watching the situation In the Free City. The League of Nations High Commissioner, Mr. Sean Lester, has so far not reported to Geneva on the situation, but is generally expected to do so.

The League at its last meeting appointed a Committee of Three—Britain France and Portugal—to watch Danzig developments, and Mr. Eden, who has long been League rapporteur on Danzig, is chairman of this committee as well as being President of the League Council.

The British representatives at Warsaw and Danzig are reporting to London on the present position of affairs.
