BASKETBALL DANCE

Representative Teams

Announced

Much interest (centred around the Wellington Basketball Association’s dance, held in the St. Francis Hall. Hill Street, last night, for during the evening were announced the senior A representative team that will travel to Christchurch at the end of August to compete in the Dominion tournament and the senior B team that will play against Canterbury, at Wellington, on August 8, and will, if funds are available, travel to Rotorua to compote in a tournament there The object of last night’s dance was to raise funds to enable the teams to travel.

There was an excellent attendance of members of the various basketball clubs in Wellington and their friends, aud among those present were Mrs H. D. Muir, president of the New Zealand association, and Mrs. A. ’Symonds president of the Wellington association, who was presented with an artistic bouquet. The committee responsible for the arrangements consisted of th® captains of the various senior B teams in Wellington, with Mrs. A. Muir as convener. Dancing continued until a late hour, and supper was served in the downstairs room where the tables were decorated with crystal vases of ice land poppies and maidenhair fern. The representative teams announced were:—

Ruddell (Wellington East 0.G.), M. Simmons (Kia Ora), J. Willson (Kia Ora), M. 'Wilson (Wellington East 0.G.), M. Worboys (Wesley). Senior B: M. Fraser (Furlor), E. Hathaway (St. Pat’s.), V. King (New town 0.G.), J. Roberts (Woolworths). L. Akel (College 0.G.), J. Bowe (Melrose), S. Jones (Island Bay 0.5.), V. O’Hanlon (St. Pat’s.), K. Blatch (St Pat’s.), P. McGoldrick (College 0.G.), M. Lancaster (University), K. Norris (Furlor).
