TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY
A most enjoyable evening was spent recently at Mokoia Hall, when Mr. and Mrs. L. Laurenson entertained about 140 guests at a dance given in honour of the coming-of-age of their daughter Margaret. The guests were received by Miss Laurenson and her mother. The former wore white lace with net frills and a red ring velvet cloak, and Mrs. Laurenson was’ in black lace with a velvet coat. Miss Ngaire Laurenson wore a black velvet frock trimmed with silver lame, with a pink velvet cape. A programme of new and old dancing numbers was intersperesed with items by Miss E. Clarke, Miss I’rangley and Mr. E. Ormrod. Mr. Erie Stokes was an efficient M.C.
The supper-room tables were charmingly decorated with Iceland popples, winter berries and maidenhair fern, and a two-tier cake presented to Miss Laurenson by her grandmother was much admired. A congratulatory speech was made during supper by Mr. J. Fox. A streamer and confetti dance and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought the evening to a close.
