VERDICT OF SUICIDE
Prominent Auckland Man's Death LETTER TO SECRETARY By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, May 21. A verdict of suicide by drowning was returned by Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., after hearing evidence concerning the death of Hubert Earle Vaile, estate agent, whose body was recovered from the harbour near Orakci Wharf by tlie police on Wednesday. Evidence of identification was given by Herbert Benjamin Harper, secretary and director of Samuel Vaile and Sous, Ltd. lie said he last saw deceased alive on Saturday morning Witness said deceased wrote hiin a letter on May 17 which he received on the afternoon of May IS. The letter was handed by witness to the coroner. Tlie coroner: Did he over express any intention he was about to take his own life? Witness: None whatever. And you know of no reason whatever why lie should have done so? —"No. I do not.” The police described the recovery of tlie body from the water, it was fully clothed except for a hat. The pockets of the overcoat and tlie side pockets if the trousers were tilled with stones: Hie legs were hound at rhe ankle.- with clothes line rope and the wrists were bound loosely with binder twine.
