IF ELECTION CAME
Government Would Be Out, Says Mr. Polson Dominion Special Service. Mastertoil. May 21. The opinion that If there were an immediate election the Labour Government would be turned out of otliee was expressed by Mr. W J. Poison, nresident of flic New Zealand Farmers’ I'nion, when addressing the annual meeting in Masterton to-day of the Wairarapa provincial executive of toe union. Mr. Poison’s remarks were prompted by the following question from a member. Mr, El. Daysh:—'‘Can von tell us why thousands of farmers voted to pur the late Government out’?” "All I can say with some thankfulness is that they did not treat me iike that.” Mr. Polson said. Some farmers had been up against it. and he thought they felt like giving someone a kick. They did not realise Now Zealand was pulling through. If the election had been held a year hence they might not have been so anxious to put out a Government that helped the farmers more than any Government in the Empire. *‘l believe if there were an election it this country to-morrow morning the Government would be turned out of < tliee," he declared. "The country is now aware of the fact that a mistake lias been made.”
