WEDDINGS

Mitford—Allen The AVilliams Alemorial Church. Paihia, Bay of Islands, was the scene of the wedding recently of Barbara, vounger daughter of Lieutenant-Col-onel R. C. Allen, D. 5.0., Paihia, and the late Airs. Allen, and Bertram George, son of Mrs. Alitford and the late Mr. B. G. Alitford. The Rev. T. J. AVilkes officiated at the ceremony.

The bride entered the church with her father, wearing a beautiful dress of cream satin cut on classical lines flowing into a long train. The tulle veil fell from a wreath of orange blossom and formed a second train. She carried a beautiful bouquet of orchids. The two bridesmaids were the Alisses Effie Studholme. Paihia, and Barbara Thorne-George. Auckland. They wore powder-blue crepe dresses with short trains and floral lieadwresses of spear lilies and heather, and carried bouquets of mauve and pink chrysanthemums. Sir. AV. J. Tripe, Fordell, was best man, and Air. Hugh Johnson, AVellington, groomsman. The bridegroom’s mother, Airs. Alitford, wore a charming ensemble of delphinium-blue lace and a smart hat of blue velvet with a white osprey. Her bouquet was of fuchsias, shaded flowers and autumn leaves. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride in autumn colourings. A reception was later held at the home of the brides father. The bride loft in a smart white and navy blue travelling dress and marina hat.

PitkOAVsky—Hyams

The Synagogue, AVellington Terrace, was the scene recently of the wedding of Betty, only daughter of Air. and Mrs. E. J. Hyams, and Alaurice Simeon Pitkowsky, younger son of the late Rev Ch. Pitkowsky and Airs. Pitkowsky.’ Wellington. The Synagogue was artistically decorated with white chrysanthemums by friends of the bride. The rabbi, the Rev. S. Katz, assisted by the Rev. S. Kantor, performed the ceremony, and presiding at the organ was Airs. IT. Cane. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of cream satin cut on classical lines, with a slightly cowled neckline and long sleeves which were finished with tiny satin buttons to the elbow. The back -was also ornamented with tiny satin buttons. The long train fell in graceful folds from the knees. Flowing in billowy folds was the veil of tulle, one layer of which was worn over the face as the bride enterwl the Synagogue. It was caught to the head by a coronet of pearls. Deep cream chrysanthemums formed the bridal sheaf.

Airs. Leslie Schncideman, sister of the bridegroom, attended the bride as matron of honour. She wore a charming rust satin cloque gown, the bodice and wide sleeves caught at the wrists being of rust georgette. The little hat was of rust cloque finished off with tulle to match. She carried a bouquet of autumn flowers with touches of brown and gold. Aliss June Rothschild. the flower-girl, wore a long brown velvet dress with brown fur around the neck. She wore a brown jullet cap caught with a tiny spray of flowers, and carried bright autumn flowers arranged in a ball. Air. Arthur Hyams was best. man. and Mr. Leslie Schncideman groomsman. A reception was held at the National Club where Airs. Pitkowsky and Air. Hyams received the guests. Airs, Pitkowsky was in a smart gown of black velvet with a gold background and trimmed with gold lame. She wore a black velvet hat to match, with an eye veil, and her bouquet was of autumn flowers. sky left for the north the bride was wearing a green ensemble with hat to match, a brown fur and brown accessories. Consvay—Carter A recent wedding at the Lyall Bay Baptist Church was that of Elva Alyrle, second daughter of Airs. Al. AV. P. Lascelles, AVellington, and Stanley Alartiii, second son of the Rev. Air. and Airs. 11. S. Conway, Auckland. The Rev. Alexander Hodge, of the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle, officiated. Aliss D. Robson officiated at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of ivory matalasse, which was cut on classical lines. The sleeves, set into large armholes, tapered until close fitting at the wrist, where buttons and a point extending over the hand made an attractive finish. A silver girdle marked the waist line, while on her left shoulder she wore a sprig of orange blossom. The flounced skirt, which opened slightly at a fold in the centre front, showing her ivory velvet shoes, fell away to a graceful train at the back. Her billowy veil of' ivory cut tulle was worn over her face, and held in position by a wreath of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of narenes and asparagus fern. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by some of the pupils she had taught at Lyall Bay School. The bride was attended by her sister, Aliss A. Carter, AVellington, Aliss P. Conway, Auckland, sister of the bridegroom, and Aliss G. Harries, whose gowns wore of peach pink cossylk, slightly trained, modelled on slimfitting lines. The large puffed sleeves, pleated into the armboles, gave the frocks a square shoulder effect. Brown velvet flowers and gold leaves at the neckline were worn with shoulder plaits of gold and brown, and they also wore pink mittens. Their posies were of earnations and pink gladioli. Aliss June Barry. AVellington, cousin of the bride, was flower-girl, wearing an ankle-length frock of dull finish ivory silk. The pink velvet flowers and silver ribbon worn as her halo were the same as those encircling the neck and dropped on her frock. The bridegroom was attended by Air. J. Heffierman. Auckland, and Air. N. Alclntosh, Geraldine, and Mr. J. Burt. AVellington, were ushers. After the ceremony a reception was held, when the guests were received by Airs. Lascelles and Airs. Conway. AVhen Air. and Airs. S. Al. Conway left, the latter wore a tailored costume of nigger brown, with velour bat, shoes and bag to tone, and stone-mar-ten fur. Their honeymoon will be spent in China and Japan.
