Due to their superior physical condition Carterton defeated Masterton-Ath-letic by 9 goals to 1 in the senior Soccer match here on Saturday. 'The game was very interesting, particularly during the first spell, which ended 3-1. However, an apparent lack of training affected Masterton-Athletic in the second spell, when they could not withstand the determined assaults of their opponents. Air. R. J. Weir wae referee.
The opinion that tours organised by farmers’ unions to neighbouring provinces should be recommenced was expressed at the annual provincial conference of the North Canterbury district of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. It was stated that few members were able to afford a trip overseas, but iiiueli pleasure and profit were to be derived from visiting other parts of the Dominion and inspecting farming methods there.
