The opinion that the standard of motor-driving was becoming steadily worse in the Auckland province and that more and more selfishness was being exhibited every day was expressed by Mr. J. R. Hibbert, senior patrol of the Automobile Association (Auckland), in a report on Easter traffic on the Great South Road, submitted at a meeting of the council of the association. “A lot of the driving was terrible,” Mr. Hibbert said, after quoting the experience of the local office of a lending motor insurance company which had received 60 claims for Easter road accidents, this constituting a record for the firm.
