New Cases at Museum A start, should he made this week with placing the exhibit cases in position at the National Art. Gallery ami Dominion Museum at Mount Cook. Next week it should be possible Io begin placing specimens in the cases. At present) men are busy making new cases, and many need only final painting inside and the setting of the glass before they are placed in position. In the northern wing some of the wall cases have already been placed in position. The cases are being made of Queensland maple, the authorities being doubtful of the bend and borer-resist-ing qualities of New Zealand woods. The floor-covering Is being laid, and in two of the wings it. is already in place. In the Maori hall workmen are making the framework for the two patakas, or store-houses, which are to be placed at either end of the hall. The wall panels for these and the other decorations are lying in readiness. Two of the Ihree canoes have been finished and are much different in appearance from what they were before. Work on the wharerinianga should be begun soon; the big meeting-house will project about 10 feet out into tdie hall from the recess in which it is to be built. Along the walls cases tire being placed.
