New “Gaieties” Production at Opera House To-day

■ “Fresh Faces,” the opening production by Stanley McKay’s “Gaieties of 1936” Company, entirely satisfied Wellington playgoers, and was presented at the Opera House for the last time last evening. Another new vaudeville-revue known in England as “Revuderville,” will be presented to-night, entitled “Life Begins at Eight.” This production is; claimed to be funnier and more spectacular than the opening performance, and during the evening a number of new specialty acts are to appear for the first time in 11 ellington. The principal of these is “Trampo,” the hobo who sleeps, dresses, juggles, and performs the seemingly impossible while on a slack wire. “Trampo has appeared with the greatest success in most of the leading theatres of AustraliSThe Gaieties musical trio .will make their initial bow to a Wellington audience, as will “The Three Alecs; ’ a team of eornedv trick cyclists. “Patricia amt Colin,” whose adagio dancing was one or the gems of the opening production, will present an entirely new offering to-nigh-The comedians of the party, Ike Delavale, Joe Rox, and Maggie Buckley, bave_ become popular during the week. An item of special interest will be the singing 01 the “Miserere” from Verdis ‘Il Trovatore,” with Wyn Egerton as Leonora and Russell Callow as Manrico. “The Melting Pot,” an exciting musical intenude, will serve as a finale to the first part or the programme. , , Owing to bookings ahead, prior te the company leaving Australia, the “Gaieties Wellington season must be limited to another seven nights. A gift matinee will be given to-day at 2.30 p.m.. when cowboy and Indian suites, tennis rackets, dolls, teddy bears and other gifts will be distributed among the children. The plans for reserves are at the D.f.c. until noon, then at the Opera House, and day sale tickets may be purchased at the Opera House •sweets shop.
