In a civil action, Freda Hill, widow, Westport, was awarded £1450 damages against Shaw’s Taxi Service, Westport, and Thomas Patrick Shaw, taxi-driver, Westport. On a claim for £3500, at the original hearing, the widow was awarded £1750, but on defendants appealing a rehearing was granted by the Appeal Court for review of the damages, which as a result of to-day’s decision have been reduced by £3OO. The Court of Appeal has found there was negligence on the part of defendants.
