MEN KNOCKED DOWN WHEN GETTING OFF TRAMS
Two persons were injured when the motor-cars they were in collided on the main road between Porirua and Tawa Flat at about 9 o’clock yesterday morning. Mrs. A. Birch, 211 Queen’s Street. Wellington, suffered an injury to the right leg, and Mr. R. Bezel - , of 179 Vivian Street, a passenger in the other car, suffered incised wounds to his scalp and left hand from flying glass Both persons were taken to the Wellington Hospital by the Free Ambulance. Jlrs. Birch also received attention at the Porirua Hospital. A compound fracture of Lis righ: leg was suffered by Mr. A. Geddes, of 135 The Parade, Island Bay, when a motor-van and a motor-cycle collided at the corner of Medway and Derwent Streets on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Geddes was taken to the Wellington Hospital by the Free Ambulance. When alighting from a tram-car at the corner of Abel Smith and Cuba Streets at about 2.30 p.m. on Saturday, Mr. J. Tulloek, of 14 Arlington Street was knocked over by a lorry and suffered abrasions to the body. Another man, Mr. J. Orr, of 18 Thompson Street, suffered lacerated wounds to the forehead and shock when he was knocked down by a motor-cycle while getting off a tram-car in Hopper Street soon after midday ou Saturday. The pillion-rider of the cycle, T. E. Meyer, of Moore’s Avenue, Johnsonville, suffered abrasions to th? left leg and shock. Both men wore taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance. Injured While Diving. Diving into water that proved too shallow, Judith Oxley, aged 151, of Loehiel Road, Khaudallah, suffered a scalp wound and an injury to her back, the exact nature of which will uot be known until au X-ray examination is made to-day. The accident happened in the Hutt River near the Moonshine Bridge about 4 p.m. yesterday. The girl was taken for treatment to Dr. A. B. Sternberg, of Upper Hutt, who ordered her removal to hospital. Fall from Motor-cycle. Mr. Y. N. Hegh, labourer, of Cockayne Road, Ngaio, fell from his motorcycle when it skidded at a corner in the Kaiwarra Gorge at 7.30 last evening, injuring his head and right arm and suffering severe shock. He was taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance.
