A GOOD INCREASE

Wellington Acceptances 20 IN THE CUP Best Horses Remain In Au excellent list of acceptances was received by the Wellington Racing Club last night for the first day of its summer meeting on Wednesday next. The total for the eight races is 101, as against 87 for the corresponding day last year. The field in the Cup numbers 20, as compared with 12 last year, and there are 1-1 in the Telegraph, an increase of three. The largest increase is in the two-year-old race, which has an acceptance of IS, or 10 more than last January. A pleasing feature of the lists is that all the good horses stand their ground. Only four, Great Star, Lady Graceful. Round Score and Superex, failed to pay up in the Cup. and of the four, three are in other races, while Lady Graceful is unable to race. Five only failed to accept in the sprint, one of them in Silver Ring, remaining in the Cup. while Rebel Chief is in the Anniversary Handicap. Queen of Song is the only runner with an engagement continued in both the Cup and the Telegraph. The totals in the particular events as compared with last year at this stage are as follow :—
