Trentham Candidates Gallop Dominion Special Service. Jlawera. January 11. Several candidates for Trentham were galloped at Jlawera this morning, smart efforts being credited to Lowenberg, Knockout, and Seamond. Fast work was done on the trial grass, which was rather holding after heavy rain overnight. Seamonil surprised by finishing on terms with Aga Khan over six furlongs in 1.17 — " useful gallop. It was Seamond's best showing on the tracks since coming to Ila went. She looks an improved mare since Stratford, and should give a good account of herself in the highweights at Trent ham.

Notium was hard held over the concluding stages of three furlongs to finish two lengths in front of Shemseh in 40 3-.". Notium could have improved considerably on this time. He will be ridden in the Wellington Stakes by IL Wiggins. The best gallop of the morning was done by Lowenberg, who shaded Knockout over live furlongs in 1.3 2-5. It was a first-class gallop, for they went a round aud a half of pacework previously. Lowenberg came home in great style. He looks better than ever, ami has a strong local following for the Wellington Cup. Knockout also impressed, going much better than on Saturday. Heavy rain fell during the interval, and when Gay Chief and Brilliancy were sent half a mile together later, the going was decidedly holding. Ridden out. Gay Chief finished a .shade in front of his companion in 52i, but the latter was going fairly well. A rider has not yet been engaged for Gay Chief in the Wellington Stakes. Several candidates for the Wanganui-Taranaki-Egmont circuit galloped. , Carfex ran five easily in 1.8 1-5. Waiongona sprinted three in 40 1-5. Kentucky Song ran six comfortably in 1.26. Bantry, picked up by Master Limond at the half mile, ran six in 1.20 1-5. Our Selection sprinted two in 271. Royal Dispute gave a good display over five hurdles, aud Clembrouey I shaped well over two. ‘ [
