CLOTHING DISPUTE
Agreement on All Major Questions By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, February 6. A Conciliation Council, over which Mr. S. Ritchie, Conciliation Commissioner, presided., spent the whole day to-day considering the Dominion industrial dispute in the clothing trade. An agreement was reached on practically all important matters after a long discussion. Women assessors for the employees were not satisfied with the wages offered for journey women, but eventually the employers amended offer of £2/2/- was accepted. The request of the employees’ assessors for a 40-hour week was not granted. Wages demands were discussed at length and a compromise was ultimately reached.
