Registrations Decrease Continued decreases in the total number of males registered up to January 19 who are wholly or partly a charge on the Unemployment Fund are reported by the Unemployment Board. A decrease of 2621 on the figure recorded just before Christmas is shown by the latest total of 52.086. Comparing the latest return with the figures recorded a year ago, it is pointed out that the number in receipt of part-time employment under Scheme No. 5, or on sustenance in lieu of relief work as at January 19, 1935, was 32,911, compared with 37,020 on January 20, 1934, or a decrease of 4109. Particular attention is drawn to this latest figure of those receiving bare relief assistance, as.it is the lowest recorded since June, 1931. The number in full-time employment. I but assisted by wages subsidies from the Unemployment Fund, was 19,175 on January 19, 1935, compared with 27a 836 a year ago, a decrease of 8661. This makes the total number who are a charge on' the Unemployment Fund 52,086. as compared with 64,856 a year ago, or a total reduction of 12.770.
