A Bihar Government communique •says that the earthquake death-roll so far totals 6041, comprised as follows: Muzzaffarpore 1929, Monghyr 1318, Dharbangha 1887, Patna 139, Champaran 435, Saran 170, Bhagalpur 111, Gaya 34, Shahabad 16, Purnea two. Gaya Prasad Singh, an Assembly .member, has given notice of motion for the India Government to lend £1,500.000 to assist in the reconstruction of the province, but Syed Abdul Asiti, Education Minister of Bihar, when interviewed, estimated that close on £4,000.000 would have to be spent over two years to rebuild Bihar's economic life. Seven large sugarcane-factories were ■destroyed, and the Government is faced with the problem of the disposal of last year’s sugar crop.
