ARTILLERY CONTEST

Wellington v. Auckland A detachment of two officers and 25 other ranks from the 15th (Coast) Battery, N.Z.A., Wellington, left by the Limited express on Friday night for Auckland to compete against the 13th (Coast) Battery, Auckland* for the Hudson Cup. The cup is a very old trophy, and since it was first competed for in 1927 under new conditions it has been held by the 15th Battery. The 13th Battery sent a team to Wellington in 1931 in quest of the trophy, and this year the 15th Battery is returning the visit. Captain C. A. Williamson is in charge of the Wellington men, and the second in command is Lieutenant N. O. Stephenson. Competition for inclusion in the team was very keen. The contest between the two batteries will comprise all branches of artillery work with the exception of signalling. The range-takers will have their part to play, and the electric light and engine-driving sections will have tho searchlights to work. The culmination of the contest will be a shoot between the two batteries. The Wellington men will return next Friday.
