The caterpillars appeared in countless numbers toward the middle of May, and since then have invaded tho houses of the villagers, infesting the rooyis by hundreds. . Nogradveroee, a wood of two thousand acres belonging to. the Treasury, has been shaved of all foliage, single green trees of a species unattractive to the caterpillars being left here and there. All attempts to destroy tho eggs: and the insects by disinfectants and poisons have so far failed.
