OLD COLONIAL BALL

Progress With Arrangements

A meeting of the Old Colonial Ball committee was held yesterday afternoon, Mr. Herbert F. Wood being in the chair. Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop, chairman'.of the ladies’ committee, was among those present. It was decided that the ball be opened with a group of “Old Colonials” dancing a polka and mazurka in order to create the correct atmosphere. An “Old Colonial” set is being formed for this purpose, and rehearsals will take place at Miss Margaret O’Connor’s studio on Wednesday evenings. The conveners of the various stalls, such as novelties, cigarettes and icecreams, to be set up in the Town Hall on the night of the ball, reported satisfactory progress with their arrangements. It was proposed by the chairman that prizes be given for the best costumes, depleting the styles of sixty years ago. Several ballets in costumes of the period are being arranged by Wellington dancing teachers. AH arrangements were reported to be making splendid progress.
