SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR

st. Luke’s, Wadestown

A golden chain bazaar was held in St. Luke’s Parish Hall, Wadestown, on Thursday in aid of St. Luke’s Church funds. Mrs. Knox Gilmer, who opened the bazaar, was met at the entrance by the vicar, the Rev. J. E. Ashley-Jones, and Mrs. Ashley-Jones and Sirs. • Liggins, and presented with a bouquet of pink roses by little Sybil Rhodes. Mrs. Knox Gilmer, in declaring the sale open, stressed the great importance of sunuorting the church in, these days of‘financial difficulty. In connection with the bazaar there was a cooking competition, judged by Miss Parlane, matron of St. Mary’s Home, Karori, and organised by Miss Olive Turton. Those in charge of the stalls were Plain and fancy work stall, Mesdames Blake and Bull, and Miss Lomas; produce stall, Mesdames Harley-Brown, Temple-Clere, Nelson Jones, Hazelwood, and Miss Grose; cake stall, Mesdames • Rowe, Otway, AshleyJones, and Ferguson; sweets stall, Mesdames R. Booth, H. D. Thomson, and J. Richard Smith; flower stall, Mesdames Watkins and Collins; miscellaneous, Mesdames Rhodes and Simijon, and Miss Quaintrell; brantub, Mrs. Wicks and the Bible class girls; tearoom, Mesdames R. Liggins, F. N. Cook, Drury and Allison, Misses •E. Carnaby. Clapham and De Tourette; treasurer,*Mrs. S. D. Pope; competitions, Mrs. and Miss Maekay, Miss C. Wylie and Mr. Drury. Music was supplied by Howard Allen.
