STRUCK BY LIGHTNING
Mlaori Killed Instantly COMPANION UNHARMED • By Telegraph.—Press Association. New Plymouth, November 2. A Maori named Wanau was struck dead by lightning in a paddock at Oinata this evening. He was a married man with several children. Wanau was walking across the paddock with his son, who, although only about eight feet away from his father when the flash came, was unharmed. Wanau’s death was immediate. A brief thunderstorm followed a siinny and exceedingly hot day. Rain clouds quickly gathered, and heavy rain fell, accompanied by lightning. Within an hour the evening was again perfect.
