CHRISTMAS CHEER
Smith Family’s Effort for
Festive Season ESTABLISHMENT OF FUND Worthy deeds are in the minds of 'the members of the Smith 'Family in preparing for the Christmas season. They are determined, as far ns lies in their power, that no worthy person or needy family in Wellington will want for a meal, and to that end they are arranging for the packing of 600 hampers for distribution on the eve of Christmas. There is also to be a big children’s party, for the kiddies of those who are up against, it. This may take place ou the Saturday afternoon preceding Christmas, which falls oh a Monday. Naturally money is required to achieve such ends but the Smith Family has never been found wanting in that respect, and does not anticipate any difficulty in raising sufficient funds. There is being established a “Smith Family Christmas Cheer Fund.” People may either' send contributions direct to the Smith Family, Wakefield Street, or to “The Dominion,". in which all contributions will be acknowlexlged. /The fund at present stands as follows:— Mrs. Thos. Dwan .. £5O 0 0 CITY MISSION FUNDS Total of £6OO Required MANY CHRISTMAS CALLS "Since we last sent our notes the news has come to hand that the Rev. T. For the first time this year we are without an overdraft at the bank, and we liipe to keep this happy state of affairs, for some time.
“Our next work is to collect £6OO for our Christmas cheer fund. It is intended to take the boys to camp at Levin, and- the girls to Otakl or Foxton. The year has been so difficult for ‘lie relief worker that it is important that we take as many children to. camp for two weeks' as funds will allow. We hope to take 300 children. “We must also give a good -Christmas dinner and a little present to each of the fifty old people who attend the daily dinner, and we have also to give the men in the shelter a decent Christmas; Then thorp are the 80 married families, well know’ll to ns, to whom we want to give a Christmas grocery order. •>
