Request for Six-day Week

A deputation from tlie Wellington Creameries, Cheese and Butter Factory Employees’ Industrial Union of Workers waited upon the Minister of Labour, Hou. A- Hamilton, yesterday, with a request that legislation should be introduced to provide for a six-day week in dairy factories.

The Minister promised to give favourable consideration to the request.

Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P., introduced the deputation, who presented a case for shorter hours for dairy factory 1 employees. It was stated that the dairy factory workers were the oply section of workers in New Zealand still working seven days a week.
