Sheep-Worrying
Sir,—ln Christchurch and Auckland wc read of many sheep being worried by dogs. I think that a law should be made that any dogs found loose within a radius of five miles of a town should be shot. People that value their dogs should tie them up at night. A neighbour had several sheep worried, and rang for my son to take his rifle round, as the dogs kept out of range of their shot-guns. My sop shot the three dogs. The paddock was like a shambles —sheep half-dead, and fourteen lambs so mauled that they had to be killed.
The poor sheep can do nothing to protect itself. —I am. etc.. COUNTRY RESIDENT. Pahlatua. October 30.
