REMITS CONSIDERED

W.D.F.U. Provincial Council A meeting of the Wellington Central Provincial Council of the W.D.F.U. took place in Marton recently, the president, Mrs. Stevens, being in the chair. Delegates attended from Taihape, Huntervllle, Tutaenui, Turaklna, Bulls, Feilding, Palmerston North, and Marton. Mrs. Wickham, Dominion vicepresident, and other visitors were present. A keen debate took place on remits dealing with, (1) bush nurse and housekeeping matters; (2) increase of drinking at public dances, and consequent danger to young people; (3) need for branch representation at conference; (4) central reserve bank. The various branches gave short resumes of work during the last few months. It was realised how the work of the division was growing, when the treasurer stated that for one month the community chest account had been over £l5O for salaries and travelling expenses of ntjrses and housekeepers, in addition to the share of employers and branches.
