“CHASIN’ THE BLUES”

Successful Revue The Wellington Musical Comedy and Dramatic Society presented the revue “Chasin’ the Blues” to an appreciative audience at the Concert Chamber last evening. The proceeds are to go toward the Free Ambulance funds. Miss Kathleen Ferris, who plays the leading role, was seen in several bright and colourful sketches, among which was “The Maxim Girl.” For this number she wore a flame satin dress with a batteau neck and matching gauntlet gloves. Her chorus was dressed in frilled organdie frocks in pastel shades, and the ballet also wore short pink organdie frocks trimmed with blue roses. In “Pretty Things,” Miss Ferris wore a blue organdie frock, and in her solo, “The Old Violin,” she appeared in a dress of ivory satin. Miss Florence Heyworth wore a brilliant butterfly costume for her toe dance, and a black velvet skirt with a green organdie frilled blouse, and little sequinned hat for her cabaret number. Miss Nola Woods, who also danced a solo, wore gold satin and tulle. The “Staircase Tap” quartet, consisting of Misses- Kathleen Reid and Avice Nolan, and Messrs. Charles Stewart and Noel Walsh, were effectively dressed in brilliant cerise costumes. Miss Kathleen Reid also appeared in a dance trio with Messrs. Charles Stewart and Alfred Smith. For this item the performers wore black trousers with Russian blouses of gold satin. Black satin pyjamas with white blouses were worn for the waltz number by Miss Jean Stewart and Messrs. Charles Stewart and Noel Walsh. Miss Irene Wilson and Miss Maureen Smith were also soloists in vocal numbers. Master Tony Lonergan, who appeared in an amusing sketch, wore a miniature swallow-tailed suit of white satin. The choruses and ballets for the various numbers were most effectively dressed. For one item they appeared very sailor-like in white and royal blue pique trousers and shirts, royal blue boleros, and blue and white berets. The revue was produced by Mr. David Devltt.
