MUSICIANS WELCOMED
Afternoon Reception A reception was held by the members of the Women’s Auxiliary Committee of the Wellington Symphony Orchestra yesterday afternoon in the T. and G. Building, in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Andersen Tyror, the noted visiting musicians. Lady Buckleton, vicepresident, acted as hostess, in the unavoidable absence of Mrs. Knox Gilmer, the president. Lady Buckleton welcomed the guests in a happy little speech, to which Mr. Tyrer replied, speaklug in glowing terms of the work of the orchestra, and thanking the committee on behalf of himself and his wife. The rooms were charmingly decorated with huge bowls of Iceland poppies, and on the mantelpiece a tall vase of Solomon’s seal matched the sage-green table covers and cushions. Afternoon tea was served, and much pleasant discussion took place on the subject of music. Among those present were Lady Myers, Mr. and. Madame de Mauny, Mrs. Hannan (president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Dunedin Orchestral Society), Mrs. W. Young, Mrs. R. Addison, Mr. and Mrs. Balliser, Mr. Ernest Dawson, Misses Henry (2), Dr. and Mrs. Hickey, Miss Constance Morice, Mrs. MacarthyReid, Mrs. Rana Wagg, Mrs. B. B. Wood, Mrs. Vickery, Mrs. Stanton Harcourt, Miss Elsmie Ward, Mr. and Mrs. J. Haydock, Mr. W. Haydock, Mrs. Bath, Mrs. Chatfield, Mrs. R. Chatfield, Mrs. H. E. Gibbs, Mrs. Cork’ll, Mrs. Bruce, Miss Taylor, Mrs. Bennie, Mrs. L. Levy, Mrs. Bow, Mijs. Hart. At the end of the afternoon a committee meeting was held, with Lady Myers in the chair.
