Plimmerton Bowling Club i In welcoming the large attendance of members and visitors at the opening of the Plimmerton Bowling Club’s season on Saturday, the vice-president of the club, Mr. E. J. Stephens, referred to the pleasure derived by the presence of Mr. John Wright, president, whose health had improved, and expressed the hope that he would soon be restored to complete health. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Frank M. Garner for the gratuitous services rendered by him in looking after the club’s property and greens during the past season. Mr. Garner had again undertaken to carry out a similar work free of cost to the club during the present season. The ladies of the Croquet Club were thanked for the valued assistance rendered bj’ them to the club. Mr. W. H. Bennett, on behalf of the president of the Wellington Bowling Club, congratulated the club on the results achieved during the past year, and referred to the pleasure derived, by visiting bowlers when visiting the Plimmerton green. Mrs. Ernest Pickering threw the first “kitty” and Miss E. Amoore the first howl. Mrs. Frank Garner, on behalf of the executive of the Croquet Club, presented bouquets to Mrs. Geo. Neale, Miss E. Amoore, and Mrs. E. J. Stephens. The proceedings closed by a presentation of a suitably inscribed “kitty” to Mrs. E. Pickering. Plimmerton Croquet Club In the presence of a large number of visitors, the Plimmerton croquet greens were opened last Saturday by Mr. E. J. Stephens. Mrs. Geo. Nea.le put the first ball through the hoop. . The committee afterward entertained the visitors to the joint opening of bowlir’f and croquet greens, and a most pleasant afternoon was spent.
